Peer Review Policy

The International Journal of Comparative Social Science Studies (IJCSSS) follows a strict double-blind peer review process to ensure the academic quality, integrity, and originality of all published research. The journal is dedicated to advancing comparative and interdisciplinary research in the social sciences through transparent and ethical scholarly publishing practices.

1. Review Model

IJCSSS operates under a double-blind peer review system, in which:

  • The identity of authors is concealed from reviewers
  • The identity of reviewers is concealed from authors

This ensures that all manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of academic merit, methodological quality, originality, and contribution to comparative social science research.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the editorial office to ensure suitability for peer review. This includes assessment of:

  • Relevance to comparative social science disciplines
  • Compliance with journal formatting and submission guidelines
  • Academic structure, clarity, and language quality
  • Plagiarism and similarity index screening
  • Ethical and research integrity considerations

Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be rejected at the desk review stage without external peer review.

3. External Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers in relevant areas of social science.

Reviewers evaluate submissions based on:

  • Originality and theoretical contribution
  • Comparative and analytical depth
  • Research design and methodological rigor
  • Accuracy of interpretation and findings
  • Contribution to social science literature
  • Quality of references and academic writing

Based on reviewer feedback, the editorial decision may be:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

4. Review Timeline

IJCSSS is committed to a timely and efficient review process:

  • 2 to 4 weeks for initial peer review feedback
  • Additional time may be required depending on revision complexity and author responsiveness

5. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and unbiased feedback
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
  • Identify relevant missing literature or citations
  • Report any ethical concerns, plagiarism, or duplication
  • Disclose conflicts of interest and decline review if necessary

6. Editorial Decision

Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or assigned editorial board member, based on reviewer recommendations and editorial judgment. The decision is final and ensures fairness, transparency, and academic integrity.

7. Confidentiality and Ethics

All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential. Editors and reviewers must not use unpublished material for personal research or disclose it to third parties.

8. Commitment to Ethical Review

IJCSSS is committed to ensuring fair and unbiased evaluation of all manuscripts, regardless of nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, or personal background. The journal strictly follows principles of transparency, integrity, and ethical publishing in all stages of the review process.
