Correction & Retraction Policy

The Journal of Applied Scientific and Natural Studies (JASNS), published by Scholar Club Pvt Ltd, is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the scientific record. This policy outlines the procedures for handling errors, corrections, and retractions to safeguard academic credibility.

Corrections

Corrections are issued when minor or significant errors are identified in published articles that do not invalidate the overall findings. Corrections may be initiated by authors, editors, or readers.

Types of Corrections:

  • Erratum – Publisher-initiated corrections for production errors such as formatting, figures, or metadata issues.
  • Corrigendum – Author-initiated corrections for errors in data, methodology, or factual content that affect clarity but do not invalidate the study.

Correction Procedure:

  1. Identification – Errors may be reported by authors, readers, or editors.
  2. Editorial Review – The editorial team evaluates the error and determines the appropriate course of action.
  3. Publication of Correction – A formal correction notice is issued and linked to the original article. The correction is permanent, indexed, and freely accessible.

Retractions

Retractions are issued to withdraw published articles when the validity or ethical integrity of the research is fundamentally compromised. This protects readers, researchers, and the scientific record.

Grounds for Retraction:

  • Proven plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication of data.
  • Serious ethical violations, including lack of institutional approval or undisclosed conflicts of interest.
  • Critical methodological flaws or misinterpretation that invalidates the conclusions.

Retraction Procedure:

  1. Investigation – JASNS conducts a thorough review in consultation with authors and, if necessary, their institutions.
  2. Editorial Decision – Based on evidence and COPE guidelines, the editorial board determines if retraction is warranted.
  3. Retraction Notice – A formal notice is published, clearly linking to the retracted article, which remains accessible for transparency.

Transparency and Indexing

All corrections and retractions:

  • Are freely accessible
  • Clearly indicate the nature and reason for the correction/retraction
  • Are indexed in bibliographic databases to maintain traceability

Ethical Governance

JASNS adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and international standards of research and publication ethics. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the editorial process.
