Editorial Guidelines

ApexMed – Journal of Health Sciences

ApexMed is dedicated to excellence in medical and health sciences publishing. These editorial guidelines provide a transparent and ethical framework for authors, reviewers, and editors, ensuring that all submissions are handled with scientific integrity, fairness, and professionalism across all stages of the publication process.


1. Submission and Initial Evaluation

Scope and Relevance

Manuscripts must be original and fall within the scope of clinical medicine, biomedical sciences, public health, or health policy. Authors are encouraged to review ApexMed's Aims & Scope before submitting.

Plagiarism Screening

All submissions undergo a mandatory plagiarism check using tools such as Turnitin. ApexMed enforces a strict 10% similarity threshold. Submissions above this limit may be rejected or returned for revision.

Manuscript Format Requirements

Submissions must comply with Author Guidelines, and include:

  • Title and author information

  • Abstract and keywords

  • Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion (IMRAD structure)

  • References (APA or Vancouver Style, depending on study type)

  • Tables, figures, ethical statements, funding disclosure

Licensing Terms

All accepted articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), allowing distribution with attribution, but prohibiting commercial reuse or modification.


2. Peer Review Policy

Double-Blind Review

ApexMed operates a double-blind review process to ensure objectivity:

  • Authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other

  • At least two independent expert reviewers evaluate each manuscript

Reviewer Selection & Ethics

Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise and must have no conflicts of interest with the authors or institutions involved.

Confidentiality

All review materials are strictly confidential. Reviewers and editors are prohibited from sharing or using unpublished content.

Timeliness

Reviewers are expected to return feedback within 2–4 weeks. Editors monitor the workflow to minimize delays.


3. Editorial Decision-Making

Possible Decisions

Based on reviewer input, editors may:

  • Accept the manuscript

  • Request minor or major revisions

  • Reject the manuscript

All decisions are communicated to authors with constructive feedback.

Revision and Resubmission

Authors must respond to each reviewer comment with clarity and submit a revised manuscript within the assigned timeframe.

Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a formal request. Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, if needed, an independent expert.


4. Ethical Standards and Responsibilities

Authorship

All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the work. The corresponding author ensures that all contributors agree with the content and submission.

Conflict of Interest

All authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any financial, institutional, or personal interests that may affect the objectivity of the manuscript or review.

Research Ethics Compliance

Studies involving human subjects, animals, or clinical trials must include ethical approval (e.g., IRB/ethics committee approval) and informed consent statements.


5. Post-Publication Policy

Corrections and Retractions

If serious errors, ethical violations, or integrity issues are discovered post-publication, ApexMed will:

  • Publish corrections (Erratum/Corrigendum)

  • Issue formal retractions with full transparency

  • Update indexes and notify readers accordingly

Digital Preservation

All published content is permanently archived in reliable repositories to ensure long-term accessibility and citation.


6. Editorial Board Responsibilities

Selection

Editorial board members are selected based on their expertise, research background, and dedication to ethical publishing.

Duties

Board members contribute to:

  • Peer review

  • Editorial strategy and innovation

  • Upholding scientific and ethical standards

Rotation

Board composition is periodically refreshed to promote diversity, innovation, and engagement.


7. Communication and Transparency

Author Support

The editorial office is available to respond to inquiries regarding:

  • Manuscript status

  • Submission guidelines

  • Revision instructions

Efficient Communication

All communication during the editorial workflow must be professional, timely, and respectful, fostering collaboration between authors, editors, and reviewers.
