Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Biological, Environmental, and Agricultural Insights (JBEAI) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical research. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be the authors’ original work and must properly acknowledge all sources, ideas, data, and materials derived from other researchers.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to the use of another individual’s intellectual work without proper acknowledgment. This includes:

  • Direct Copying: Verbatim use of text from other sources without quotation marks or proper citation

  • Improper Paraphrasing: Rewriting another author’s ideas, findings, or interpretations without attribution

  • Data and Visual Misuse: Using tables, figures, images, or datasets without appropriate credit

  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published or submitted work without disclosure or citation

Similarity Threshold

In accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, JBEAI enforces a maximum similarity index of 19%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected to ensure originality and scholarly quality.

Detection and Author Responsibility

All submissions are screened using reliable plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin). Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and for properly citing all sources. Manuscripts that fail to meet these standards will not proceed to peer review.

Handling Violations

  • Minor Overlap: Small citation or referencing issues → Manuscript returned for correction

  • Major Plagiarism: Significant copying or lack of attribution → Immediate rejection or retraction if already published

  • Repeated or Severe Violations: Authors may be blacklisted and their affiliated institutions may be notified

Author Declaration

All authors are required to submit a Statement of Originality, confirming that:

  • The manuscript is original and unpublished

  • All sources are properly cited

  • The work is not under consideration elsewhere

Appeals Process

Authors may submit a formal appeal if they believe a plagiarism decision was made in error. The editorial board will review the case and issue a final decision.

AI-Generated Content Policy

JBEAI does not permit the use of AI-generated content (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard, Gemini) in manuscripts.
❌ Submissions containing AI-generated text, analysis, or interpretation will be rejected or retracted.
✅ Only original human-authored research is accepted.

Transparency and Retraction

In confirmed cases of plagiarism, JBEAI will issue a formal retraction notice to maintain transparency and protect the integrity of the academic record.
