Author Appeals Policy

Turing Ledger Journal of Engineering & Technology (TLJET)

At TLJET, we maintain a robust, ethical, and objective editorial and peer review process. We understand that authors may occasionally wish to contest editorial decisions. This Author Appeals Policy ensures a structured, transparent, and fair process for handling such concerns while upholding the journal’s scholarly integrity.

1. Valid Grounds for Appeal

Authors may file a formal appeal if they believe that:

  • The editorial decision was based on a misinterpretation or misunderstanding of their work.

  • There were factual errors or misjudgments in the reviewer feedback.

  • A conflict of interest, editorial or reviewer bias, or procedural breach may have influenced the outcome.

❗ Appeals based solely on disagreement with reviewer opinions, without evidence or justification, will not be considered.

2. How to Submit an Appeal

Timeframe

  • Appeals must be submitted within 20 calendar days of the editorial decision notice.

  • Late appeals will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.

Appeal Submission Requirements

Appeals must be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief via the official TLJET contact portal:
???? https://scholarclub.org/index.php/TLJET

The written appeal should include:

  • A clear statement of the reason for appeal.

  • Identification of any factual inaccuracies or ethical concerns.

  • A point-by-point rebuttal or clarification to key reviewer/editorial comments.

  • Any supporting evidence or documentation, such as updated data or clarifying literature.

Optional: Revised Manuscript

Authors may include a marked-up version of the manuscript with suggested revisions, alongside a response-to-reviewers document.

3. Appeal Review Process

Once an appeal is received, the process includes:

Editorial Review

  • The Editor-in-Chief will review the appeal letter, the original decision, and related correspondence.

  • Input from the original handling editor or a senior editorial advisor may be requested.

Additional Review (if warranted)

  • Manuscript may be referred to:

    • Original reviewers (with appeal responses)

    • New, independent reviewers

    • A neutral editorial board member for an internal assessment

Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief will issue a final, binding decision. Possible outcomes:

  • Uphold the original rejection.

  • Invite resubmission with or without revisions.

  • Accept the manuscript directly.

A detailed explanation of the decision will be sent to the author.

4. Appeal Limitations

  • Only one appeal per manuscript is allowed.

  • Appeals are evaluated solely on merit.

  • Persistent or unfounded appeals may result in rejection without further review.

5. Ethical Considerations

If the appeal indicates potential ethical concerns such as reviewer misconduct, undeclared conflicts of interest, or editorial lapses:

  • The case will be escalated to the TLJET Editorial Ethics Committee.

  • Possible actions:

    • Reassign the manuscript to a new editor/reviewers.

    • Initiate an investigation aligned with COPE guidelines.

6. Communication and Timeline

  • Acknowledgment: You will receive a confirmation email within 5 business days.

  • Resolution Timeline: Appeals are generally reviewed and decided within 4 to 8 weeks, depending on complexity.

This policy ensures that author appeals are handled respectfully and fairly, while maintaining TLJET’s commitment to transparency, objectivity, and the highest standards in academic publishing.
