Editorial Process

Overview

At the Journal of Language, Literature & Social Affairs (JLLSA), we are committed to a transparent, rigorous, and ethical editorial process designed to uphold the highest standards of academic publishing. Our workflow ensures that only quality research—marked by originality, relevance, and scholarly integrity—is selected for publication. Below is a comprehensive outline of the editorial journey from submission to publication:

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors are required to submit their manuscripts through the JLLSA online submission portal. All submissions must comply with the journal’s formatting and ethical guidelines as outlined in our author instructions.

2. Preliminary Assessment

Upon receipt, each manuscript undergoes an initial assessment by the editorial team. This step verifies that the submission aligns with the journal’s scope and academic focus. A plagiarism check is conducted using reliable detection tools, and manuscripts exceeding a 10% similarity threshold may be rejected or returned for revision.

3. Editorial Assignment

Manuscripts passing the preliminary check are assigned to an appropriate section editor based on subject expertise. The assigned editor conducts a detailed evaluation of the manuscript’s thematic relevance, research quality, and potential contribution to the field.

4. Double-Blind Peer Review

Qualifying manuscripts proceed to a double-blind peer review, where at least two independent reviewers with subject-matter expertise assess the work. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript on the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the research
  • Methodological soundness
  • Logical structure and coherence
  • Contribution to current scholarly discourse in language, literature, and social affairs

5. Reviewer Feedback and Recommendations

Reviewers submit their reports along with one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept as is
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
  • Reject

6. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ evaluations, the handling editor—often in consultation with the editor-in-chief—makes an informed decision. Authors are notified of the outcome along with detailed feedback and revision instructions if applicable.

7. Revisions and Resubmission

When revisions are requested, authors are given a designated period to submit the revised manuscript. The revised version may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editorial team, depending on the nature of the changes.

8. Final Decision

Once all revisions are deemed satisfactory, a final decision is made regarding the manuscript’s acceptance. The corresponding author is notified via email.

9. Copyediting and Proofing

Accepted manuscripts undergo a professional copyediting process to refine language, formatting, and stylistic consistency. Authors are provided with proofs for final approval prior to publication.

10. Online Publication

Finalized articles are published in the next scheduled issue of JLLSA and made openly accessible under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

11. Post-Publication Engagement

Following publication, the editorial team continues to support the visibility and impact of the research. Articles may be promoted through academic networks, social platforms, and scholarly forums to foster wider dissemination and engagement.
